Art Deco - 1925 bis 1940

Jewellery from this period is clear and functional. The geometric shapes represent the new American idol of a woman – sporty and emancipated. Usage of diamonds in this epoch broke all records. Often, several hundred of these spectacularly sparkling stones were worked together with ‘cool’ stones such as aquamarine, citrin or onyx. The created pieces of jewellery were magnificent, and the art of gold smithy must have reached its peak in this period. Alongside Art Nouveau jewellery, Art Deco pieces remain the most popular antique jewellery to this day. It was predominantly crafted in white gold or platinum.

End of our journey through time – but time never stands still!

Following the Art-Deco period, no other developments regarding antique jewellery need be mentioned. Antique jewellery has many lovers and to this day finds new wonderment.

Ever more celebrities provide proof of the revival in antique jewellery, as we report in this account in the goettgen-Journal..
